How Did The Gudworld Startup Start?
Jaggery World startup is not a new business for Preeti and Sayali Shinde. It is a modern form of their ancestral business. Their family has been making and selling jaggery for about 40 years. But both the sisters started it in the year 2021 by giving it a new look with today’s modern era. Where earlier jaggery was made in lots of 5 and 10 kg. Both the sisters started making bytes of 5 and 10 grams.
In the year 2020, both the sisters participated in the International Food Exhibition named GulFood held every year in Dubai. Where people from about 24 countries had come. Everyone praised their product. From where they got the confidence to take their business forward. At present, the products of Jaggery World startup are also exported to other countries including China. Their products are available at more than 2800 shops in about 7 states of India.
Gudworld Made 5 Gram Jaggery Cube
This startup cracked the 5 gram cube product in December 2019. At that time it had no packaging, because the founders had just left college. Every year an international food exhibition named GulFood is held in Dubai, in which Goodworld was also able to set up a stall in February 2020 with the help of APEDA. People from 24 countries came there and praised these products a lot. Seeing the demand, the founders decided that now they have to make it a big business.
China Also Buys Their Products
The market of jaggery in India is around Rs 6500 crore. On the other hand, if we talk about the whole world, the market of jaggery is around 4.2 billion dollars. Jaggery is used a lot in China and it is also the largest importer of jaggery. Good World also exports its products to China.
Gudworld Company Is Earning Crores
In the year 2023-24, the company made sales of Rs 1.48 crore. At the same time, till October this year, the company has made sales of Rs 2.2 crore and it is expected that in 2024-25, the company’s sales can touch the figure of Rs 6-7 crore. 60 percent of the company’s sales are from offline channels. 15 percent is online and 20 percent is export. At the same time, 5 percent of the sales come from Horeca.
Currently, the products of this startup are available in more than 2800 stores in 6-7 states. Let us tell you that they have about 400 acres of farmland, out of which they cultivate sugarcane in 100-150 acres, which is used to make jaggery.
Aman Gupta Provided Funding
Before coming to Shark Tank Season 4, the startup was a bootstrapped startup. In which only the founder’s family members had invested. So far, an investment of 4.5 crores has been made in it. In which 45 percent stake was with Preeti and 25 percent with Sayali. Also, their brother-in-law has 15-15 percent stake. Aman Gupta has invested 50 lakhs in 2% equity instead of the demand of 50 lakhs with 6% equity. On the other hand, Anupam, Vineeta, Piyush and other sharks were out.
Gudworld Total Valuation
The founders of GudWorld are two Karjan sisters Preeti Shinde and Sayali Shinde. Who started it in April 2021.
